Eric Faden, Professor of English and Film/Media Studies at Bucknell University, will introduce PLAYTIME and will explore the film’s themes and visual style.

One of the most impeccably choreographed films of all time, Jacques Tati’s PLAYTIME is a carefully constructed feature that took three years to complete. Tati stars as the lovable, old-fashioned Monsieur Hulot; we follow his exploits, which run parallel to an American tourist as the duo attempts to navigate a technology-forward Paris. This comedy of confusion perfects mise-en-scène, with every frame filled to the brim with inventiveness and quirky characters. In French w/ subtitles.

Our screening of PLAYTME is in partnership with Alliance Française de Philadelphie and is FREE for both Alliance Members and Members of our non-profit theater thanks to a generous grant courtesy of the Vesta Fund.
