Project 1: Lobby Repairs ($150,000)

Our first project is to make lobby repairs. It is time to touch up the theater’s promenade and lobby. Since we reopened as a nonprofit in 2003, our rugs have seen over 2 million patrons! And they are starting to show it. Not only will we replace the rugs, but we will also repair the water damage by the Ladies Room, repaint, and provide better lighting and sound mitigation to the lobbies - keeping the classic look of the theater, but making it brighter, more welcoming, and less noisy. Thanks to generous donor support, we are well on our way!

Project 2: Projection Booth Equipment ($123,500)

Our second project is to upgrade our projection equipment. We need to replace aging equipment to keep showing you the best new and classic films. The booth is more than just projectors (we will raise funds to replace those next year) - this year we need to replace the digital servers, sound processors, A/V interface, and lighting dimmers. Thanks to generous donor support, we are well on our way!

Your support makes it possible. These upgrades are crucial to our mission of showcasing film as an art form. We rely heavily on individual gifts to keep the theater operating and to raise the funds needed for this vital upgrade. Whether you’re a longtime cinephile, a supporter of local arts, or simply someone who loves the magic of the movies, your donation makes a lasting impact.

Are you taking a required
minimum distribution from your IRA?

Contact your financial advisor or the firm holding your IRA or Beneficiary Inherited IRA to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). IRA account holders aged 70½ and older may take tax-free distributions from a Traditional or Beneficiary IRA and donate the amount distributed to an eligible tax- exempt charitable organization. (You may take a QCD from a Roth IRA; however, since these distributions are generally tax-free, the same tax benefits will not accrue. A different means of contributing these monies may be more advantageous to you.)

The Ambler Theater (Ambler Theater, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) organization qualified to receive these contributions under IRS code. Please ensure that your check payable directly to the Ambler Theater. You may not take receipt of these funds and then issue a personal check for your contribution and qualify for the special tax considerations of the QCD.

The QCD amount can represent all or a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the tax year; or more, should that make sense from a tax and estate planning perspective. The total of all QCDs for a single tax year cannot exceed $100,000 per individual taxpayer. The QCD will be reported by the firm holding your IRA to you and the IRS on Form 1099-R as a normal distribution (Code 7) based on your age. You must document this tax-free qualification to the IRS on your Federal income tax return (Form 1040). Please visit the IRS website, or contact a professional tax advisor for more information. The Ambler Theater will provide you with a letter confirming your contribution, this should be retained with your tax records.

Future projects.

2026: New Projectors ($250,000)In 2013, theaters nationwide made the mandatory switch to digital projection. The 2K projectors, which typically have a lifespan of about ten years, are now twelve years old. To ensure we can continue presenting the latest releases and newly restored classics in the best possible quality, it’s critical that we replace our aging equipment. This year we are replacing the most vital equipment - but we also need to look ahead to installing new projectors in the very near future.
